Setting up Referral Commission Programs¶

Referral Commission is the commission that an individual or organization receives when they refer a new customer or a new transaction.

Requirements

This tutorial requires the installation of the following applications/modules:

Set up Referral Commission Rules¶

Navigate to Affiliate > Configuration > Referral Commission Rules, click on New to create a new Referral Commission Rule.

Fill in the form with the following information:

Rule Name: the name of referral commission rule.
Validity: select a time period to apply this rule.
Commission Type: here select Referral.
Referral Source: select the referral source to which this rule applies, online or offline.
Amount Per Referal: set up the amount to be received per referral.

Then go to Accounting tab, and select Commission Product, which is the product representing the commission when invoiced.

Click on the Save button to finish.

Managing the Referral¶

To manage referrals in the Affiliate app, go to Affiliate > Referrer > All Referrer. There are two types of referrals: Offline and Online.

The system automatically generates Online Referral when there are referrals from websites, links, etc. Visit the article How to create and share affiliate links to know how to create and share affiliate links and get referrals.

Navigate to Affiliate > Referrer > All Referrer, and click on New to create a new Offline Referral. Set up general information:

Affiliate Code: Select the affiliate code of the referrer.
Partner: Automatically retrieve based on the partner of the affiliate code.
Date time: Enter the time of referral.
Source Type: Verify the referral source, which can only be manually created with offline sources.

Click on the Save button to finish.

Managing the Referral Commission¶

Create Referral Commission¶

To create referral commission, you need go to Affiliate > Referrer > Create Referrer Commission.

On the Referral Commission Wizard Action, select Affiliate Code, which is the code of affiliate who will receive the commission. And then press on Confirm.

Note

Create rules before generating commissions.

After that, the system will generate a corresponding affiliate commission, containing the following information:

Name: The name of the commission.
Affiliate Code: The affiliate code of the referrer.
Referrer: Referral counted for commission.
Currency: The currency unit used for the commission.
Total Commission: The total amount of commission calculated for the referrer.
Verified Commission Amount: The amount of commission that has been confirmed and accepted.
Invoiced Commission Amount: The amount of commission that has been invoiced and needs to be paid.
Paid Commission Amount: The amount of commission that has been paid to the referrer.
Commission Details: Details of the commission.
Other Information: Display the invoice status of the commission.

Note

On the other hand, you can create Referral Commission by clicking on Generate Referral Commmission button on Referral.

Note

Only can create a commission when referral is confirmed.
For online referrals, confirmed clicks are required.

Commission Payment¶

On the affiliate commission just created, you click on Create Bill to create invoice.

Click on the Confirm button on the invoice.

The subsequent actions can be found at: create payment from vendor bill.

Note

The Create Bill button is only displayed when the commission is in the Confirmed state and not all invoices have been issued for the Total commission.
