What it does
Odoo Community stores the company-wide inventory-valuation defaults on res.company but ships
no screen to edit them: once a chart of accounts has seeded them, a user cannot change the
valuation mode, the costing method, the valuation account or the stock journal from the interface
at all. This module adds that screen, in Accounting > Configuration > Settings, next to the
product accounts it is the inventory counterpart of.
This is a bridge module: it carries no model, no business logic and no new field of its own - every
field is a related onto res.company, which is the only tier Odoo 19 actually reads when it
posts a stock valuation entry or closes a period.
Key Features
- Inventory Valuation defaults for the company
- Valuation mode - Periodic (at closing) or Perpetual (at invoicing)
- Periodic Valuation - how often the closing entry is generated: Manual, Daily or Monthly
- Inventory Cost Method - Standard Price, FIFO or Average Cost
- Valuation Account and Journal used by inventory accounting entries
- A product category can still override any of these for its own products; what this screen sets
is what a category that never overrode one resolves to.
- A direct link to the Inventory Loss and Production locations, where the loss and
cost-of-production accounts are defined.
