Sales orders dated on the day the customer agreed
For sales teams that confirm orders after the customer has agreed
Confirm the order on the date it was actually agreed
Odoo 19.0 · Odoo Community · Odoo Enterprise · OPL-1
Extends Backdate Operations, which switches the back-date modules on from Settings and supplies their shared date dialog.
What changes for your team
Orders confirmed late keep the day the customer agreed
Today: an order agreed by email on Friday is typed on Monday, or one taken over from another system is confirmed when someone gets to it, and it carries that later day as its Order Date.
→ Confirm asks for the date and time the customer agreed, and the sales order carries it as its Order Date. Sales Analysis reports by that date, so the order counts in the period it was agreed.
Confirmation still runs every check
Today: correcting the date after the fact means a workaround that bypasses Confirm and the checks it runs.
→ The dialog confirms through Odoo's own Confirm. A date in the future is refused and the dialog stays open for a correction, a required analytic distribution is still checked, the order is still locked when your company locks confirmed orders, and a next step such as available loyalty rewards still appears.
Only the people you choose are asked for a date
Today: Odoo dates every confirmation with the moment of the click, for everyone.
→ The administrator gives Sales Backdate, in the Sales section of the user form, to the salespeople and managers who record orders after the fact. Nobody holds it by default; everyone else confirms as usual, with no dialog.
What is included
On its own, the module covers the date dialog of Confirm on quotations, sent or not, and the Sales Backdate right. Sales and Backdate Operations install with it; nothing else is needed.
Before you decide
Who is asked for the date?
The users you give Sales Backdate on the user form; the right includes the standard Sales access User: Own Documents Only. Nobody holds it by default, Sales administrators included. Everyone else confirms at the current time.
What does it take to set up?
Tick Sales Confirmation Backdate in Settings, under Backdate Operations, then give Sales Backdate to the people who need it. There is nothing else to configure.
Can an order that is already confirmed be re-dated?
No. The date is asked when the order is confirmed; afterwards the Order Date stays read-only, as in standard Odoo.
Does it change the delivery or the invoice dates?
No. Only the Order Date takes the chosen date. Delivery scheduling and invoicing follow the standard Odoo rules, and the delivery takes its own date when it is validated; Inventory Backdate records a past date there.
Which languages and time zones does it handle?
It ships in English and Vietnamese. Each person enters the date and time in their own time zone.
Try it, then ask us
The Documentation tab walks through granting the right and confirming a quotation on a past date.

Sales Confirmation Backdate
Note
This guide is for salespeople, sales managers and the administrator who sets them up.
Overview
Odoo stamps a sales order with the current date and time when it is confirmed. That is wrong for
an order the customer actually agreed in the past, for example an order taken over from another
system or agreed last week.
With this module, a salesperson or sales manager who holds the Sales Backdate right chooses the date
and time the customer agreed. Confirm asks for it in a short dialog, and the order carries it as
its Order Date.

Setup (for the Administrator)
Installation
- Open Settings and scroll to the Backdate Operations section.
- Under Purchase and Sales, tick Sales Confirmation Backdate and click Save. The Sales app is
installed with it when it is not yet there.
You can also install it from Apps: search for Sales Confirmation Backdate and click
Install.
Give people the right
- Open Settings ‣ Users & Companies ‣ Users and open the user.
- In the Access Rights tab, find the Sales section and set Sales Backdate to
Sale Backdate Operations.
- Click Save.
The right also gives the standard User: Own Documents Only access of Sales, so a salesperson
needs nothing else to work with quotations. No one holds the right by default, Sales
administrators included. Having the right means the dialog is offered to that person; people
without it keep confirming at the current time, so the right is never a barrier for anyone else.
For a sales manager, set Sales to Administrator in addition to the right. A manager sees the
quotations of every salesperson.
Salesperson: confirm an order on the date the customer agreed
Confirm a quotation
- Open Sales ‣ Orders ‣ Quotations and open the quotation, in the state Quotation or
Quotation Sent.
- Click Confirm. The dialog Confirm Order with a Back Date opens.
- Set Confirmation Date to the date and time the customer agreed. Dates are entered in your
own time zone.
- Click Validate.
The quotation becomes a sales order and shows the date you chose as its Order Date.
A date in the future is refused: Odoo shows a message and the dialog stays open, so you can
correct the date without losing the quotation. Click Close on the message and enter the date
again.
If an analytic plan requires a distribution on sales order lines, the check of Confirm
applies in the dialog too: add the distribution to the lines, then confirm again.
What takes the date
Only the Order Date takes the date you chose. Everything else, including the delivery
schedule that Odoo derives from the order, follows the standard Odoo rules.
When Odoo asks a further step
Some apps add a step right after the confirmation. With Loyalty programs, for example, Odoo
shows the notice Rewards Available when rewards can still be added to the order; with
Events, it opens the registration of the attendees. That step is shown after the dialog and
the date you chose is kept.
Sales manager: confirm the orders of the team
A sales manager who holds the right confirms any quotation of the team exactly as described
above: the same dialog, the same date rules. The role Sales: Administrator alone does not
offer the dialog; the Sales Backdate right does.
Users without the right
A user who does not hold the right sees no dialog. Confirm works as usual and the Order
Date is the current date and time.
Troubleshooting
- I click Confirm and no dialog opens.
- The user does not hold Sale Backdate Operations. Ask the administrator to set Sales
Backdate on the user form (see Give people the right).
- The message says the date cannot be in the future.
- Choose the date and time the customer actually agreed, not later than now.
- Confirming is refused because of the analytic distribution.
- An analytic plan requires a distribution on the order lines. Add it to every line and confirm
again.
FAQ
- Can I back-date an order that is already confirmed?
- No. The dialog is offered by Confirm. Choose the date when you confirm.
- Which time zone is used?
- Yours. Enter the date and time as you read them on your own clock.
- Does the dialog change the delivery dates?
- No. The module changes the Order Date only; the rest follows the standard Odoo rules.
