Equipment that is made of equipment
A machine is a parent record with parts underneath it, at any depth - so a maintenance request on a pump is visible on the line the pump belongs to.
Equipment & Parts (technical name viin_maintenance) is an Odoo 17.0 app for Odoo Community and Odoo Enterprise and Viindoo Cloud, built for maintenance manager, technician, production.

Key features
Parent and child equipment, nested to any depth, Recursive parts and recursive parents computed on both sides, Maintenance requests of the parts visible on the parent, with an open count, Ordinary Odoo Maintenance underneath - requests, teams and stages are unchanged
Key Features
Odoo Maintenance treats every piece of equipment as a flat, independent record. Real plant is not flat: a production line contains machines, a machine contains assemblies, an assembly contains the motor that actually failed. When the request is filed against the motor, the line manager sees nothing. This app gives equipment a parent and children, computes the full tree in both directions, and rolls the maintenance requests of every part up to the equipment above - with a count of what is open. The question "what is wrong with line B" gets an answer that includes the parts of line B.
Requests as usual
Corrective and preventive requests, now aware of the equipment tree.
How It Works
Two screens, one relationship.
1
Give equipment its parts
Point a machine at the assembly it belongs to. The tree is computed both ways, so a part knows its line and a line knows its parts.
2
Requests roll up
A request filed on a part counts on every level above it, so nothing is invisible to the person responsible for the line.
3
The register stays the register
Everything else in Odoo Maintenance works as before: teams, stages, preventive and corrective requests.
What You Get
Parent and child equipment, nested to any depth
Recursive parts and recursive parents computed on both sides
Maintenance requests of the parts visible on the parent, with an open count
Ordinary Odoo Maintenance underneath - requests, teams and stages are unchanged
More Screens
Everything below was taken on a database seeded with real business data, on this series - not a mock-up and not a screenshot from an older version.
What This App Does Not Do
Read this before you buy. Everything below is something the app deliberately leaves to another app or to you.
It does not schedule maintenance.
Preventive scheduling is Odoo's own; this changes how equipment relates to equipment.
No spare-part stock link.
Parts here are equipment records, not stock items.
It does not measure downtime.
The tree makes requests visible; the OEE conversation needs more than this app.
Works Well With
Apps from the same stack, built to fit this one:

Who Should Use Equipment & Parts?
Maintenance manager
Sees the whole tree of a line, not one machine at a time.
Technician
Files the request against the part that failed, without hiding it.
Production
Asks what is open on a line and gets everything under it.

How to use
Instruction video: Equipment & Parts
1. Create equipment and equipment parts in a genealogical hierarchy.
To create equipment from the Maintenance module, navigate to Maintenance > Equipment > Create, here, you fill in the basic information for the equipment. In addition, if there are many equipment parts belonged to equipment that also needs to be monitored for maintenance, you can select the direct part for that equipment. Example: Create a Cylinder that is a direct part of the Hydraulic engine.
Note: If you don't want to manage the equipment in a genealogical hierarchy, you can leave the Directly apart of field blank.
In addition, on the equipment detail, you can upload worksheets so that you can quickly view PDF documents related to this device.
2. Link the equipment and its direct parts.
On the parent equipment, you can track the direct parts of the equipment and their maintenance requests and vice versa.
3. Group/Search for the equipment from its direct parts.
On the equipment list, you can search for the equipment with the Directly apart of or Parts for criteria.
