Web Thousand Separators
Separators appear while you type, not after you save
Amounts format themselves as the digits go in - so a mistyped million is visible before it is saved.
Web Thousand Separators (technical name to_web_thousand_sep) is an Odoo 19.0 app for Odoo Community and Odoo Enterprise and Viindoo Cloud, built for anyone entering amounts, accountant, sales, developer.
At a Glance
The facts of Web Thousand Separators, version 0.1.0, in one place. Published by Viindoo.
How It Works
There is nothing to set up - this is what changes.
A price field, as usual
The same fields as before; what changes is what happens while the cursor is in one.
And wherever amounts are entered
Invoices, orders, payroll - any float or monetary field in the web client.
What You Get
Live formatting while typing on float and monetary fields
The separators and decimal mark of the user's own language
Works in the back office and on marked front-end inputs
A hidden companion input can receive the parsed raw number, for forms that need it
Leaves number-type inputs alone, where the browser owns the format
No configuration - it applies as soon as it is installed
More Screens
Everything below was taken on a database seeded with real business data, on this series - not a mock-up and not a screenshot from an older version.

What This App Does Not Do
Read this before you buy. Everything below is something the app deliberately leaves to another app or to you.
Only what you see while typing; the number saved is the number you typed.
Browsers reject separators there, and rewriting the value would eat the edit.
A float_time field is hours and minutes, not an amount.
There is no per-field format override; the language decides the separators.
Works Well With
Apps from the same stack, built to fit this one:
Who Should Use Web Thousand Separators?
Anyone entering amounts
Sees the magnitude of what they typed, immediately.
Accountant
Catches a slipped digit in the field rather than in the report.
Sales
Reads a price on a quotation line while writing it.
Developer
Marks a front-end input and gets the same behaviour.

Instruction
Instruction video: Web Thousand Separators
After installing the module, you can open any application to add data.
Example: Navigate to Purchase > Purchase Orders and create a new order. From here, select products, and add the quantity and respective unit price.
Note: Each country has its own rules on using the thousands separator and decimal separator. Understanding this difference, we design it so that the separator will be changed according to the language that is being used by the user.
