Vietnam Electronic Invoice Line Grouping
Provide options to issue an e-invoice on a detailed or aggregated form
Formerly Vietnam Electronic Invoice Summary - renamed for Odoo 18.0. Works with any Vietnamese e-invoice provider through the E-Invoice hub.
At a Glance
The facts of Vietnam Electronic Invoice Line Grouping, version 0.1, in one place. Published by Viindoo.
Key Features
Built natively on Odoo/Viindoo to give long, high-volume invoices a compliant, readable e-invoice presentation:
Detailed or Line-Grouped E-Invoice
Choose, per invoice, between the original detailed invoice lines or a line-grouped (aggregated) form for the e-invoice sent to your provider.
Flexible Grouping Criteria
Bucket invoice lines by product or by product template, keeping or averaging the unit price, and separating by tax or discount - to match how you actually want the e-invoice to read.
Automatic Bilingual Naming
Every grouped line's product and unit-of-measure name is rendered in Vietnamese - with an English subtitle added automatically only when the customer is foreign.
Provider-Agnostic by Design
Built on the shared E-Invoice hub, so the grouped-line option is not tied to a single provider - any Vietnamese e-invoice provider companion can plug into the same extension point.
Safe Standalone Install
Installs cleanly on its own - if no provider companion is installed yet, the display-mode option simply has no effect, with no error and no assumption about which provider you use.
Built for High Line-Count Invoices
Turns a long, repetitive invoice - many lines of the same product across different orders - into a compact, readable e-invoice without losing the underlying accounting detail.
Benefits
Stay aligned with Vietnam's e-invoicing requirements while presenting long invoices in a compact, legally sound form.
Replace pages of near-duplicate lines with a compact, grouped e-invoice that is easier for your customer to read and reconcile.
The grouping and the bilingual naming are computed automatically at issuance - no manual re-typing or re-formatting of invoice lines.
Because the grouping logic is provider-agnostic, switching or adding a Vietnamese e-invoice provider does not mean redoing your line-grouping setup.
A shared extension hook lets future providers reuse the same bilingual grouped-line formatter instead of duplicating it.

Instruction
Instruction video: E-invoice Line Grouping
This module (formerly named Vietnam Electronic Invoice Summary, renamed to Vietnam Electronic Invoice Line Grouping) lets you issue a Vietnamese e-invoice in either a detailed form - one line per original invoice line - or a line-grouped (aggregated) form, where the invoice lines are bucketed together before being sent to the e-invoice provider. It is provider-agnostic: once installed alongside the l10n_vn_viin_edi hub and any supported provider (Viettel S-Invoice, VNInvoice, MISA meInvoice), the grouped-line option becomes available on every e-invoice, regardless of provider. It relies on the generic viin_invoice_line_grouping engine to build the grouped buckets.
1. Create a customer invoice with several lines of the same product.
- Create a customer invoice that contains multiple lines of the same product or product variant. For example, two lines of the product variants Grape (Large) and Grape (Small).
2. Choose the grouping criteria and the display mode.
- On the invoice, open the Invoice Lines Summary tab.
- Pick an Invoice Summary Line Mode - the criteria used to bucket lines together (by product or by product template, keeping or averaging the unit price, separating by tax or discount).
- Pick the Invoice Display Mode - Invoice Lines to keep the original detailed lines, or Invoice Line Grouping Lines to show the grouped/aggregated buckets instead.
- See the viin_invoice_line_grouping user guide for the full breakdown of every grouping criterion, with worked examples.
3. Issue the e-invoice.
- Confirm and issue the e-invoice as usual through the unified E-Invoice interface (see the l10n_vn_viin_edi user guide). When the Invoice Display Mode is set to Invoice Line Grouping Lines, every installed provider that supports line grouping receives the grouped buckets instead of the raw invoice lines. Each grouped line's product and unit-of-measure name is rendered bilingually: Vietnamese is always shown, and an English subtitle is added automatically only when the customer's language is not Vietnamese.
4. Install a provider companion for grouped-line issuing.
- This module ships the grouped-bucket bilingual formatter and the extension hook only; a provider module must implement its own grouped-line payload on top of it. Today that companion is VN-Invoice: Line Grouping Option for Flexible E-Invoice Issuing (module l10n_vn_viin_accounting_vninvoice_line_grouping). Without a provider companion installed, this module still installs and runs cleanly - the Invoice Display Mode simply has no effect on the payload sent to the provider.
