What it does
This module integrates Mapbox Matrix (and related routing capabilities) into the
unified routing framework provided by to_geo_routes.
It allows Odoo/Viindoo to query Mapbox distance and duration matrices between
multiple origins and destinations, which is a critical building block for
fleet optimization, vehicle dispatching, and VRP (Vehicle Routing Problem)
algorithms.
By plugging Mapbox into to_geo_routes, any business module that relies on
routing or distance calculation—such as Fleet Management, Delivery, Field
Services, or Route Planning—can leverage Mapbox's modern, high-performance
APIs without dealing with provider-specific complexity.
Key Features
- Distance & Duration Matrix from Mapbox
- Compute distance and travel time between many origin-destination pairs.
- Ideal for route optimization, clustering, nearest-vehicle search, and VRP.
- Supports scalable computations for fleet and logistics operations.
- Multi-Mode Support
- Driving
- Cycling
- Walking
- (Depending on your Mapbox plan and profile configuration)
- Seamless Integration with to_geo_routes
- Uses the unified provider abstraction layer.
- Can co-exist with Google, HERE, SeaRoutes, Vietmap, etc.
- Suitable as a primary or fallback matrix provider.
- Optimized for Fleet & Logistics Scenarios
- Enhances auto-assignment of vehicles and route planning engines.
- Provides reliable input data for advanced optimization logic.
- Helps reduce total travel distance and time across the fleet.
- Ready for Production Use
- API token-based authentication.
- Clean separation between business logic and provider implementation.
- Designed to work in high-load, multi-company environments.
